About this experience
Bogota sits high in the Andes, on a savanna the Muisca farmed long before the Spanish arrived in 1538. This walk moves through La Candelaria, the oldest part of the city, and tells its history through what you eat.
Start in a market that's fed this neighborhood for nearly a hundred years, with a syrup-cooked fig and Colombian fruit you've likely never met. A local guide then leads you through cobbled streets for a leaf-steamed tamal, a fermented drink this city once tried to ban, and a griddled arepa. Try coca tea and hear the real story behind the leaf, then warm up with ajiaco, the potato soup Bogotanos adore like family.
Your guide fills in what a map leaves out: the plaza where the city was founded and the murals covering whole buildings. It closes at a working barista school with Colombian coffee brewed in front of you, plus a secret dessert dish revealed only on the day.
7 tasting stops, a small group capped at 12, and three unhurried hours on foot.
