About this experience
Step back into the Prague of the early 15th century, when the Hussite revolution began in these very streets.
Most walking tours mention Jan Hus at the monument and move on. This one stays with the story. Over two hours we walk from the New Town Hall (site of the 1419 defenestration) through Bethlehem Chapel, the Church of Our Lady of the Snows and the Karolinum, and finish on Old Town Square.
You’ll hear how Jan Hus, the first major reformer who influenced Luther, was executed, how the war started in Prague, why the Lesser Town under the Castle was destroyed, and how the city successfully defended itself against the crusade. We’ll also cover the radical rule of Jan Želivský, his execution in 1422, the departure of the radicals, and how moderate Prague eventually prevailed.
A focused, specialist-led walk through the places that actually witnessed the uprising — religious, political and military history in one route.
