Capybara & Monkey Home Sanctuary Encounter from Puerto Plata

Escape the port or hotel for a few hours to visit a licensed wildlife sanctuary where capybaras and squirrel monkeys live in an environment designed to replicate their natural habitat. This is not a petting zoo or photo-prop experience — animals here choose when and how to interact with visitors, and can disengage at any time. Your guide will walk you through the sanctuary, explain the diet, enrichment, and veterinary care each species receives, and give you the chance to sit quietly nearby while capybaras and monkeys approach on their own terms. No animal is held, restrained, or costumed for photos. The facility operates under official authorization from the Dominican Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (VABP-12504).
