Guided Hike - Norte Pequeno and Fajãs (PRC06SJ)

This hike brings together three fajãs with different geological origins in one scenic route. You will explore debris fajãs shaped by cliff erosion and landslides, as well as one of the uncommon lava-flow fajãs found on São Jorge’s north coast. The trail also offers a strong cultural dimension, with traditional architecture, vineyards, wine cellars and agricultural fields illustrating how local communities adapted to life between the coast and higher ground. A certified nature guide with a university degree in Environmental Sciences accompanies the activity, offering insight into the island’s geology, ecology and traditional landscape.
