Hike Up a Hilltop Shrine

Leaving the coastal charm of Essaouira behind, we venture inland into the rugged countryside, where few visitors ever tread. Along the way, we pause at an abandoned Kasbah, a once-fortified dwelling now standing quietly in the landscape, almost forgotten by time and tourism. Our path then leads us on a gentle hike to a hilltop shrine overlooking a serene lake and rolling hills scattered with ancient Argan trees. At the summit, we explore the shrine before settling beneath the shade of an Argan tree to enjoy a picnic lunch and traditional Moroccan tea, surrounded by the tranquil beauty of the region. Discovering the surrounding region will allow you to gain insider knowledge of the history, memorable encounters with nature and a deeper understanding for history of Essaouira.
