About this experience
The tour focuses on the area of Ryogoku, on the Tokyo's east side. Ryogoku is well-known as the center for the sumo world where a tournament is held three times a year. It is also home to the Edo-Tokyo Museum, with excellent exhibits on the city's 400 year history. It recently reopened after 4 years of extensive renovations. This area was one the hardest hit areas in the 1923 Great Kanto Earthquake and the bombing during the final months of World War II. A small but informative exhibition hall tells us the story of what happened during these difficult times and how the city quickly recovered.
