From Taormina or Siracusa we take the motorway to exit at Giarre. We will cross several unknown local villages where you can admire the architectural beauty of the small churches, the central squares and above all discover how the real Sicilian people live in the hinterland of the island. Subsequently we will travel on a local road that allows us to reach an altitude of 1920 meters and reach Piazzale Rifugio Sapienza and admire the various eruptions of the past centuries which have also destroyed entire villages but which have put on a spectacle with lava flows and clouds of volcanic ash .
