It is home to several wildlife species notable for the mountain gorillas. The park hosts half of the worlds remaining population of the mountain gorillas. These live here in families distributed in each of the four sectors Nkuringo Rushaga Ruhija and Buhoma. This trip begins and ends in Rwanda passing via the Cyanika border in the southwestern part of Uganda. The Bwindi Impenetrable National Park was gazetted in 1993 as a way of protecting the critically endangered species of the mountain gorillas.
