About this experience
Walk the Moreton Bay mudflats at low tide to a working oyster farm at Deanbilla Bay on Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island), with a Quandamooka guide from the family who farm it.
Meet at the Otter Street, Adams Beach access in Goompi (Dunwich), a short walk from the SeaLink ferry. Meet your guide and start the walk out to the oyster farm. Follow the low tide and walk through shallow water with stories of Country along the way, you’ll feel part of the family.
At the farm, see every stage of growing a native Quandamooka rock oyster, from spat to harvest. Compare traditional tripod methods with modern systems and learn how oysters are graded and handled.
Then learn to shuck and taste 18 fresh rock oysters per person with condiments and refreshments, before walking back to Adams Beach.
Small groups of up to 10. Runs daily on the low tide, with start times confirmed before you travel. Farm footwear available. One of the only First Nations-led oyster farm tours in Australia.
