Shanghai Zoo is more than a zoo—it is a living conservation story, a scientific milestone, and an urban green oasis. As soon as you enter, you'll see giant pandas munching on bamboo, golden snub‑nosed monkeys leaping among the trees, and South China Tigers striding majestically. The zoo is home to nearly 500 species and over 5,000 animals, from air, land and water. Three unique highlights are worth experiencing in person: This is the only zoo to successfully breed all four great ape species, having bred over 240 species, with nearly 50 of them achieving first‑ever captive births in China.
