There were over 10,000 persecutions and martyrdoms in the first 100 years, of which 103 were canonized, and 79 were beatified among them. You can visit the birthplace of Korean Catholicism, the site of St. Andrew Kim Dae-geon's martyrdom, and his grave. The site includes the Seosomun Martyrs' Shrine, Solmoe, and Haemi Shrines, which Pope Francis visited during his 2014 visit to Korea. Also included were the Jeoldusan Martyrs' Shrine and Myeongdong Cathedral, which Pope John Paul II visited in 1984 and 1989.
