About this experience
Hanbok and Tea Time
Your session begins with dressing in hanbok, followed by Korean tea and hangwa. The master introduces the history and aesthetics of hyuckpil and the Korean culture expressed within it.
Master Live Performance
Before you pick up the brush, you watch the hyuckpil master perform. The leather brush moves across hanji paper, and multiple colors bleed into each other within a single stroke — a rainbow script found in no other calligraphy tradition in the world.
Practice
You begin with the fundamentals — how to load the brush with pigment, control the color blend, and manage the weight of each stroke. The master guides you directly and helps you find your own rhythm.
Create Your Artwork
The heart of the session. Write your name, a chosen word, or a phrase you have been carrying — in hyuckpil, on hanji paper, stroke by stroke under the master's guidance.
Take It Home
Your finished piece is mounted in a small wooden frame and Wrapped in a traditional Korean bojagi cloth.
