About this experience
There is a place in the Porto Conte Natural Park where nature and history meet at the most beautiful time of day. It is called Monte Murone, buttress of Monte Doglia, and at sunset it becomes one of the most extraordinary viewpoints in Sardinia.
With local Guide Simone you will leave at 18:10. The loop trail of about 4 km is easy and suitable for everyone.
Among the vegetation emerge the remains of the 103rd Murone Coastal Battery: pitches for 149/12 howitzers, underground bunkers, underground walkways and shelters for soldiers. It was built during the Second World War in anticipation of an Allied landing in Porto Conte Bay.
Those structures remained there, silent, engulfed in scrubland, telling a story of waiting and tension that never resulted in conflict.
Then, reached the summit, the view opens on Capo Caccia and the sea: the sun plunges into the water in front of you in a show that is worth the trip to Sardinia alone.
