About this experience
Kind Farm Animal Sanctuary is a family-run sanctuary for rescued farm animals in the Cardrona Valley, near Wanaka, on the Cardrona Valley Road between Wanaka and Queenstown. On this 1-hour Behind the Scenes Walking Tour, a dedicated guide takes you up close with the residents.
Meet and feed the animals with your guide. Hand-feed the sheep, step in with the donkeys, and meet the horses, ponies, goats, pigs, cows and farm dogs. Your guide shares each animal's story and the Māori and European history of the farm and the Cardrona Valley.
This is a farm sanctuary, not a petting zoo. Feeding happens only on guided tours, led by your guide, so the animals stay calm and well cared for. Groups are capped at 14 guests. Private family (up to 6), private group (up to 12) and private 4WD (up to 4) tours are also available.
Tour proceeds directly support the care, feeding and veterinary needs of the rescued animals. The farm shop and food trailer serve coffee, food and real fruit ice cream.
