Florence Wine Windows A Self Guided Walking Audio Tour

Discover Florence on a self-guided walking tour that follows the city's hidden wine windows. These small openings in stone walls tell a big story about Renaissance merchants, money and credit. Start in Piazza Santa Maria Novella and slip into the quiet streets behind it. Spot the word "Vino" on Palazzo Antinori, then find more openings along Via de' Tornabuoni. Pass the fortress-like Palazzo Strozzi and Palazzo Davanzati. At Mercato Nuovo, find the stone once used to shame debtors in public. Hear how the Pazzi family lost their palace after the failed 1478 plot against the Medici. See the guild niches of Orsanmichele and the wine window by Vivoli, reopened in 2020. Finish in Piazza Santa Croce, close to the basilica. The walk takes about 90 minutes and covers 2 km, at your own pace.
