About this experience
In town for the big event? Before the crowds arrive or in between games , get to know the city you came for.
Gold rush wealth in the 1850s built Melbourne’s grand arcades. The Royal Arcade (1869) is Australia’s oldest surviving arcade, and the Block Arcade (1892), with its mosaic floors and glass roof, was where Melburnians went to be seen. Today the old service lanes are alive with espresso bars, hidden bars and world-famous street art.
Starting by the Yarra River, your guide takes you off the main streets and into the Melbourne locals use. Enjoy a barista coffee in Degraves Street and a cheese and chocolate tasting in the Block Arcade, and pick up tips on where to eat and drink.
Finish with lunch at a uniquely Melbourne venue with a glass of local wine, beer or a soft drink. Your guide settles you in, then leaves you to enjoy lunch at your own pace. and you’ll leave knowing the city like a local.
Groups are small, so you’ll hear every story and never feel lost in a crowd.
