On this tour, we’ll dive into its backstreets and trace that evolution through the places and dishes that define its food culture. We’ll visit a century-old pastry shop and a classic delicatessen for olives, artisanal products and rare Greek cheeses from Mani and Kalamata. We’ll taste rustic savory pies and stop at a beloved neighborhood diner serving slow-cooked home-style dishes, including one of the city’s standout moussakas and house sourdough. Along the way, we’ll pass Exarchia’s iconic political street art and community-run spaces while learning about the neighborhood’s fiercely independent spirit. We’ll finish with an epic souvlaki tasting and a final bite at a Cretan canteen deeply rooted in local life — just as Exarchia begins to come alive for the evening.
