Workshop Make Your Own Ring with Ancient Techniques

Step into your workshop and discover the raw, hands-on craft of jewellery making. You'll make a silver ring using natural materials found on Dakar's coastline. Each class date features one of your two techniques, so pick the date that matches the texture you love. Cuttlefish bone: you sculpt a washed-up bone for a deep, wavy pattern like ocean waves. Beach sand: you knead a sand-and-red-clay mould for an organic, grainy finish. We then pour 100% recycled silver into your mould. Every mould is used once, so no two rings are alike. In just 2h30 you make your mould, and your jewellers cast, file and finish your ring for you. Want a ring with meaning? Bring old silver jewellery to melt down and give a new life, or, on a beach sand date, bring sand from a place you love. Green Wave is a social enterprise that trains and employs women living in shelters in Dakar. Every class helps us train and employ more women, creating a new wave of female jewellers in Senegal.
