Located on the piano nobile, the Palatine Gallery consists of 28 rooms and showcases a remarkable collection of paintings once owned by the Grand Dukes of Tuscany. Unlike traditional museum displays, the artworks are arranged according to historical decorative tastes, rather than by period or school. During the tour, admire the Medici’s private collection, featuring masterpieces by Botticelli, Titian, Rubens, and Caravaggio. Your guide will share insights into the palace’s history, from the Medici to the House of Lorraine, and its role as Italy’s royal residence from 1865 to 1870. After the guided visit, enjoy free time to explore the Gallery of Modern Art, the Treasure of the Grand Dukes, and the Museum of Fashion and Costume, diving deeper into the art and history of Florence’s most prestigious palace.
