Montevideo Dinner and Tango Show since 1895

The Baar, named Cultural Heritage of the city, has been declared of Tourist Interest by the Intendence of Montevideo and Cultural Interest by the Ministry of Education and Culture in recognition of its historical, cultural value and its living contribution to the Montevidean identity. The tables and the historic counter were attended by key figures of Rio Plata tango. Among them, Carlos Gardel, who visited the bar during his stay in Montevideo, tried the traditional Uvita and according to the history of the place, came to sing informally for those who were present. That anecdote is a living part of identity and mystique.
