About this experience
Visit Westerbork on a private remembrance journey with a Dutch historical researcher and storyteller. From Amsterdam or another agreed location, we travel to one of the most important and painful places in Dutch Second World War history.
Westerbork was not built as a death camp, but became the main transit camp from which more than 100,000 Jews, Roma and Sinti were deported to camps in the East, including Auschwitz, Sobibor, Theresienstadt and Bergen-Belsen. At the site, we explore the former camp area, the memorials, the railway line, the stories of those who passed through, and the difficult question of how this could happen in the Netherlands.
This is a private tour, not a standard group visit. The day is adapted to your pace, interests and background. If you have a family connection, the journey can often be shaped around that story. It’s your day, your journey — the idea behind Tour Guides for You.
